High-tech radio-frequency at your fingertips! INXPECT, a company based in Brescia (Italy), designed a unique approach to radar design in order to bring first-generation products to the current market.
The Inxpect sensors are based on smart FMCW radar that cores working in the ISM 24GHz band.
This technology allows excellent motion tracking, even in bad conditions, such as darkness, fog, smoke and dust, also withstanding splashes and processing residues. The discrimination of the moving target is based on mass and behavior, ensuring a precise determination of speed and reaction of the target!
How can we be sure of the security of this approach?
We found two elements to support this thesis:
-dedicated, industry standard crypto co-processor in every communication board (Secure key storage and real time asymmetric cryptography);
-intrinsic security of radar.
The first ever, radar-based, volumetric safety barrier is the LBK system, Inxpect’s core business.
What is it practically? We’ll explain it in a few words.
LBK system is an innovative approach based on a radar-based motion sensor device that, together with the appropriate LBK Control unit, ensures that automated machines or robots enter in safe mode when operators enter or are present in a dangerous area. The control unit can monitor up to six smart motion sensors, realyzing an active protection system, SIL2, in accordance with IEC 61508. One of the main features of this technology is the ability to give pre-alarms in order to avoid the sudden stop of the machinery. The system detects which part of the protected area has been entered and it will immediately activate the action initially configured via software application depending on the accessed zone.
With no moving parts, no need for alignment and no optics, Inxpect virtual safety barriers just keep working in all industrial environments, also in the harshest areas!
