INDUSTRIAL NETWORK SECURITY: HOW PHOENIX CONTACT MANAGES CYBER SECURITY

“It’s good to trust, but it’s smarter not to”. So says a famous italian proverb! Today many devices within your company allow you to share data and information between production facilities. But … How much is our data protected?

Are we sure that our know-how is in safety conditions? Don’t trust everyone, but learn yourself how to protect your industrial networks! Start with thinking about a cyber security strategy to guarantee the integrity of data and protection of facilities.

How to protect your industrial networking? Phoenix Contact suggests different mGuard solutions, in which the leader is the router with integrated firewall and VPN.

Secure remote access with mGuard Secure Cloud

This is a secure cloud-based remote service accessible with standard web-browser. Reliable teleassistance can be managed by FL mGuard modules: network components that include all the functions of routers, firewalls and VPN devices. It can manage a high VPN data rate up to 70 MBit/s.

Centralized communication infrastructure mGuard centerport2

In only one device we can find all integrated functions of firewall and VPN gateway. The gateway manages the 19-inch 1U VPN tunnels, allowing connection to a large number of systems and machines: up to 3,000 VPN tunnels can be activated simultaneously.

Security router mGuard

Located downstream the firewall, the router manages the NAT (Network Address Translation) function, thanks to which the entire network of a single machine is detected by the upper network as a single element reducing the possibility of duplicating IP addresses on the network.

CIFS technology

This technology enables the control of system integrity without installing anti-virus software on the Industrial PC. The technology allows you to monitor all file systems. In this way each change is recognized and controlled by an external antivirus program, without the access to the real system by antivirus program.

Use of Security Router with DMZ door

The access to and from the server area is secure, both on the WAN side and on the LAN side, thanks to the firewall that circumscribes the entire server area.

If you want to learn more about the cyber security, we invite you to participate in our first training dedicated to Networking and Industrial Connection by Phoenix Contact at our sales office in Grassobbio (BG – Italy) on the 3rd of April 2019. It will be a good opportunity to discuss with technicians!
