A few weeks at the SPS IPC Drives 2018 fair, three days dedicated to automation and digital innovations for industry. Three questions and three answers on SPS 2018.
The most important event of the year in the field of industrial automation is approaching, a reference point for the Italian manufacturing sector and the main meeting platform with industry.
Since 2017, the theme of automation has joined that of digital, showing a strong interest in insights on new technologies such as Collaborative Robotics, IIoT and M2M, Big Data and Analytics, Augmented Reality, 3D Printing and Cyber Security .
Man is increasingly at the center of technology, which is why companies in the sector need to keep up with innovations, deepening their knowledge to be more efficient and flexible in a constantly evolving market.

SPS 2018, WHAT ARE THE NEWS?
The fair presents particularly important innovations, including the DIGITAL DISTRICT, a Digital Transformation path on the theme of the interconnected industry. Within this space, some demonstration applications focused on Digital, Cyber Security, Software, Cloud and IIOT will be exhibited.

HAVE YOU EVER ASKED WHAT SPS IPC DRIVES MEANS?
The fair has origins in Germany. The acronym SPS comes from the German “Speicherprogrammierbare Steuerung” and means PLC. The other two terms, however, are English: “IPC” refers to industrial PCs while “Drives” are drives.
We could therefore translate the brand into Italian by talking about the Fair of PLCs, industrial PCs and Drives.
