Technology BSA and Rockwell Automation have joined forces to support high-level training in the field of mechatronics in collaboration with ITS Lombardia Meccatronica. This significant partnership has resulted in the creation of 21 educational workbenches for four technical institutes in Lombardy, aiming to prepare young students for the challenges of modern industrial automation.

Rockwell Automation, a global leader in industrial automation solutions, provided cutting-edge technology to create workbenches that replicate real-world industrial scenarios. Featuring advanced components such as Micro800, CompactLogix, Kinetix, PowerFlex525, and PanelView, these workbenches enable students to gain technical skills with systems used in the most innovative production environments.
The workbenches were designed to include the most in-demand features in the industrial sector:
- Speed and Positioning: managing axes with precision.
- Virtual Commissioning: virtual simulations to test systems in digital environments.
- HMI e SCADA: intuitive interfaces for system control and supervision.
- PID, Closed and Open Loop: advanced motor control and process regulation.
- Safety Functions: ensuring operator and machinery safety.
Types of workbenches developed
Three types of workbenches were designed to provide a diverse learning experience:
- Pump Management Workbench (PID): Uses an inverter-controlled motor to operate a pump, simulating process control applications.
- Motion Workbench “Flying Cut”: Focuses on axis management and safety functions essential for motion control applications.
- Virtual Commissioning Workbench: Employs Emulate 3D software to simulate and test virtual systems before physical implementation.
These workbenches provide students with hands-on, practical experience with real technologies, bridging the gap between theoretical education and industrial applications.
ITS Lombardia Meccatronica: an excellence in technical training
ITS Lombardia Meccatronica is a leading institution for training young professionals in industrial automation and mechatronics. With six ITS courses and one IFTS course across campuses in Sesto San Giovanni, Bergamo, Brescia, and Lecco, the institute prepares roles such as the “Senior Technician for Automation and Industrial Mechatronic Systems.”

- Rail and Road Mechatronics: Specializing in rail and road vehicles.
